Wow, more than two months without a mix. Bad dj, bad dj! As is sometimes the case, the day job got in the way of the dream job and set me back so far on fresh tracks that, as you surely know, caused me weeks worth of work catching up. All that’s done now, so it is back into the reasonably regular posting of new mixes (even if the labels aren’t cranking out much of note these days).
This time around I have a fresh The Cheat mix set for you, recorded earlier tonight after cherry-picking the best new tracks since the last Cheat mix was posted. The mix clocks in around 65 minutes, perfect for burning and putting in your car, dropping onto your iPod, or just crankin’ up on the stereo at home. The first half of the mix is firmly planted in electro territory, specifically dirty, fat, hard electro. The second half divides time evenly between hair-flicking dance rock, eastern-european-new-wave-inspired (it’s a word now, bitches!) electro house, and a bit of humour and nostalgia. This is also the first mix set to feature the voice of the dj himself (mostly to help feed iTunes listeners (and hotlinkers :P ) to the site – hi guys and gals, thanks for comin’!), recorded using the shitty-assed mic I scrounged up while pushing to get this thing recorded and onto the net. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed cookin’ it up for ya!
