Fresh Tracks – The Cheat – Volume 5

The Cheat is all about the early evening retro electro this week, with but one track meant to rock out later into the night. Liebe Ist Cool’s Take Action! starts things off with a subdued sound and spoken word. Next up, due to my ever-consistent alphabetical ordering, is this week’s sole track for later in the evening! Loose Cannons seem to be getting lots of remix treatment on La La La I’m Not Listening, but the Arabian Bah Mitzvah mix is the only one of the bunch that rocks out quite like this. Now we return back to the early evening hours when the Neurotic Drum Band promises to Rock New York with a backing track that could have easily been lifted off an early eighties breakdance instruction album. With a more aggressive tempo, the Pharmacy of Sound blends retro synths with breaks and samples to create a sound worth dropping right before the tracks that really fire up the dancefloor. Last but not least, Sieg Uber Die Sonne’s Sovjet Supreme rolls along with subdued, laid-back arpeggiation that remind one of more than a few early eighties’ dancefloor monsters.

Well, boys and girls, that’s it for Fresh Tracks for this week. Be sure to support the artists behind the tracks that get you off your ass and onto the dance floor, and be sure to come back every few days, ’cause there will be a brand new dj mix set with a sound unlike either of the mixes you’ve heard here so far, followed a few days later by next week’s Fresh Tracks. Stay tuned!
