Though it has been a quiet week all around, the Shiny Metal Ass-Shakers have made out lucky this time around, with around four times as many tracks making the initial shortlist when compared to the other two sets! That said, there was quite a range of robotic house, glitchy, blippy beats, techno, electro-house, and retro-electro, so to keep things balanced and on point I’ve whittled the list down to just those five tracks that really nail the feel for the off-peak shaking of Shiny Metal Asses. Audio Soul Project donate some off-beat snares to go along with their synth blips and percy analog bass. Hall Monitor break out the old-school video game sounds in the subtle “Treu”. Taking the party up a notch with “Pink And Blue”, Jerome Thomas grabs the attention this week with the most bangin’ track of the bunch. Luca Bacchetti revisits a classic spoken word sample that everyone should recognize, mixing it in with some nice minimal blippy grooves. Finishing off the list, Penny and Ashtray remind us why we’re all here, with by far the most out-and-out classic video game sounds of pretty much any Shiny Metal Ass-Shakers list to date.
